Sermon: Being A Church of Growth by Rev. Edgar De Jesus
Acts 2:42-47 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved."
Ephesians 4:11-16 "The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knitted together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love."

- Youth Sunday School Announcement: The Council on Ministries met and decided to divide the Youth Sunday School Class into two classes: Younger Youth Sunday School Class (6th-7th Grade) and Older Youth Sunday School Class (8th Grade-12th Grade). David Jones and Tammy Tuck will lead the Younger Youth SS Class while Kaneasha Shackelford will lead the Older Youth SS Class. Pastor Edgar will be an alternate. The locations of these two classes will be on the second floor of the New Fellowship Hall. This will take effect beginning Sunday, September 28.
- Sunday School Devotion I just wanted to let all of you know how thankful I am for the precious few volunteers who have shared in our Sunday School Devotion time this year. If you haven't had the opportunity to share in this time yet, please join us on Sunday's at 9:45. As most of you know a brief poll was taken as to whether we should keep this time as it has been in the past. It was decided to leave it as is. However, it takes volunteers to keep it alive. As I come to the end of my year of coordinating these devotions, I have a few open slots for the rest of 2008. If you would like to volunteer to share a devotion during this time, please let me know. The open dates are: Oct 26, Nov 2, Nov 23, Nov 30, Dec 14, Dec 28
Blessings, Angie Solomon

- UMCOR and MERCI Mission Center have an immediate need for Flood Buckets UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot has nearly depleted its supply of flood buckets after shipping thousands of buckets in response to recent floods. MERCI Mission Center (NC Conference) also is in great need of flood buckets. This low inventory is a serious concern especially with back-to-back storms in the Atlantic/Gulf regions. For more information on shipping to Sager Brown, and for information of contents, please see: Flood Bucket Need.
