Sermon: Power of Prayer by Rev. Edgar De Jesus

John 17: 1-11 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.

• Circle 2 is collecting Bingo Prizes for Maple Heights Nursing Home
• The New Beginnings Sunday School class invites you to join them for a Billy Graham book study. The Journey-How to Live By Faith In An Uncertain World. Begins May 11.
• It seems so far away, but Bible School begins in less than 3 months (July 13th - 17th...Commencement on the 18th). Here is a list of the open spots for this year's VBS - "Rainforest Adventure: A Tree Top Bible Blast"

• The Power of Purple The Mt. Zion Relay for Life Team is selling large, handmade purple bows in the fight against cancer. They are $5.00 each . The bows can be purchased from any Mt. Zion team member (Jill Rimmer, Pam Rodgers, Kate Holeman, Angela & Bill Cole, Austin Cole, Lynda Allen, Joy Griffith, Beverly Foushee, Dale & Jackie Rimmer, Frank & Eleanor Wrenn, Dolly & Tony Long, Leroy Hutchins) or at the church (135 Clay Long Rd ~ Hurdle Mills/364-2746).
• Please sign up to provide lunch or serve meals at the Christian Help Center.
• Need: Plastic soda bottle caps, plastic detergent caps, plastic milk caps-- ANY PLASTIC caps or tops. Needed for a Bible School craft. Please see Laura Burton
• If you or if you know of anyone that uses powdered baby formula, coffee cans, country time, kool-aid, nuts, ...anything that is a tub or can w/plastic lid. Any size will do. Need of around 150. Please see Jill Rimmer.
• The Fund Raising Committee is selling prints of Mt. Zion Church. These prints are from an original artwork done by Phil Holeman in 1993. They were recently found in the church and the Committee is selling them for the same price as they were in 1993 - $25.00. If you wish to purchase a print (unframed) please see Chuck Rodgers
  
• Individuals/group wishing to use any facility at Mt. Zion UMC must submit a Program Reservation Form to Eleanor Wrenn (Reservation Coordinator). Forms are available at the church office.
