Scouting Ministry
In July, three of Pack 288's Webelos Scouts enjoyed a week of camping at Camp Woodfield in Asheboro. Andrew Horton, Lukas Long, & Matthew Long along with Leaders Anthony Horton and Todd Long enjoyed their adventure at Woodfield! Andrew, Lukas, and Matthew met all requirements for Geologist, Engineer, and Scientist. Congratulations guys!
In August, the Pack met to continue to work on requirements and get ready for the upcoming Scouting Year.
Get ready...October is Popcorn month! Popcorn is the Pack's one and only fundraiser for the entire year. Please consider supporting Cub Scouting through purchasing popcorn from one of our Scouts.
Please note, we will have several Cub Scouts aging out of the Pack very, very soon. This means, Mt. Zion will need to begin a Boy Scout Troop. If you are interested in becoming a Scoutmaster please let us know. If we do not establish a Troop here, we will have to send our Boy Scouts elsewhere to join other Troops in the area.
The Girl Scouts traveled to Fort Fisher in August to Sleep with the Fishes at the Aquarium. We had a group of 28 to sleep with the fishes - including moms and dads. It was a fantastic experience. We had two great teachers! We were able to touch live animals (if we wanted to) and got to make a cool t-shirt. We slept in front of the huge salt water tank where the sharks and rays live.
The Scouting Ministry is excited and ready to ramp up our regular meetings in September! We'll continue to meet the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 0830.
